SOHO. Although it's no relation to the well-known Craftsteak restaurants in the US, this is a great take on the American-style steakhouse. You'll find the world's best beef on the menu, from the US, Argentina and Australia, grilled to order over an open flame and served with your choice of eight sauces. A la carte sides range from the traditional (grilled asparagus, garlic mushrooms) to the more unusual (sautéed pea tendrils with crisp garlic). There are also a handful of seafood and vegetarian options.

KOWLOON. Hong Kong isn't lacking when it comes to good steak. Knutsford Steak Chop and Oyster Bar is reminiscent of a New Orleans eatery, with a festive atmosphere and an open balcony overlooking the busy street below. Fresh oysters on the half shell and perfectly aged steak are the main draws here, but the menu goes well beyond to offer great choices such as bourbon barbecue baby back ribs, lamb chops with blueberry sauce, pork chops with apple sauce, and lots of seafood like pan-fried barramundi with spinach and orange butter sauce and Cajun prawns.

KOWLOON. You may not have planned to visit an American chain restaurant while in Hong Kong, but you'll certainly miss a truly fine dining experience if you skip it. Steak fans will be in their element here, but the menu features veal, chicken and seafood, too. A la carte sides are fantastic: fresh green asparagus with hollandaise, creamed spinach, sautéed mushrooms, and several versions of the humble potato are all perfectly prepared and plentiful. Dessert is a must, particularly one of the soufflés or the hot chocolate cake. Morton's is also the proud recipient of Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence.

KOWLOON. If you are planning to eat in this restaurant, better plan to arrive with an empty stomach. Menu selections in this steakhouse include the mouthwatering New York Strip or a jaw-dropping 40-oz. Porterhouse Steak for two. Dishes such as stuffed chicken breast are available for those who prefer not to indulge in red meat. For those with a sweet tooth the dessert is a must-try, especially the banana cream pie, and portions are made to share. The friendly waitstaff is willing to accommodate your needs, and the warm atmosphere is particularly inviting. Business casual attire and reservations are recommended. MTR: Tsim Sha Tsui
